About the Southern Energy Network
The Southern Energy Network is building a youth movement to stop global warming! We work with students on campuses and in communities to win clean energy campaigns, build state networks, and connect campus and community leaders.
some examples of our work:
- We have worked with students on successful campaigns to raise student fees for renewable energy and efficiency at 11 schools, including Warren Wilson College in North Carolina, which now purchases 100 percent renewable energy and flagship state universities in NC, TN and FL!
- We are working with dozens of other campuses that have passed energy efficiency, green building, waste reduction and recycling, more efficient transportation and other sustainability initiatives, which reduce GHG and other emissions associated with campuses and often improve quality of life on campuses.
- We have built and are actively supporting state student networks in five southern states: GA, TN, NC, SC and FL, and we're working on building capacity in other Southern states including AL, MS, LA.
- Through engagement in fights against new dirty energy facilities including coal plants in GA, SC & NC, student anti-mountaintop removal coal summits, mountain justice spring break, and other events and campaigns we are strengthening these community fights and building student power beyond campus.
We are training the next generation of leaders with the skills, the connections and passion to create a better future. We are invigorating and inspiring our colleagues of all ages, and building a larger base of power to build the clean energy future that we must see and to stop the new dirty energy plants in our region. But, we need your support to continue our important work here in the Southeast.
