TASSC is a coalition that was founded at the 3rd annual Southeast Student Renewable Energy Conference in 2006 at UT Knoxville. Students working on clean energy campaigns connected to collaborate on state-wide initiatives to have a larger impact on our natural and social environment. TASSC aims to promote sustainability at Tennessee' s institutions of higher education. Sustainability is defined as the set of principles through which society meets the needs of the present without compromising opportunities for future generations.
Some of our initiatives:
- Collaborating with the TN Board of Regents' on the Sustainable Campus Fee Guidelines
- Joining forces at the TN Intercollegiate State Legislature to propose banning MTR in the state, green building guidelines for state buildings, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions!
- Passing Green Fees on 8 campuses!
- Holding summits to outreach to new student leaders
