Florida's energy policy has included solar energy and renewable energy
initiatives since the 1970s. Florida is the only state that offeres a
solar contractor license, which covers solar thermal and PV. Florida's
Jacksonville utility (JEA) offers one of the best PV system incentive programs in the country.
Customers receive rebates of $4.00 per AC watt for qualified solar
energy systems. In addition, solar energy systems are not subject to
state sales tax in Florida.
