Shannon Murray (www.riotfolk.org)
Scholarship (www.myspace.com/chitchatband)
Medicine Man calls into question issues regarding pharmaceuticals, advertising, fast food, and war. It is a protest song but done in a peaceful manner. The song features acoustic instruments and was recorded live in one take so as to use minimal electricity. We like to believe that we can get our music across without shoving it in your face with amplifiers. Also, you will notice that the songs are very loose, yet human. They are not perfectly recorded masterpieces, but a fair representation of a group of people having fun with music. None of us are trained and this is most of the members' first band. Hope you enjoy the track.
Willie Dodson (of Here’s to the Long Haul) (www.mountainjusticesummer.org)
Willie Dodson is a member of the band 'Here's to the Long Haul' and a Mountain Justice activist. (www.myspace.com/herestothelonghaul, www.mountainjusticesummer.org) The song Ed Wiley is about actions taken by residents of the Coal River Valley and their supporters in the summer of 2005 to oppose a coal prep plant and sludge impoundment directly behind an Elementary School.
Sensory Creatures (www.myspace.com/sensorycreatures)
Sensory Creatures is an experimental music project that was started in 2005. With the rise of of independent music and the fall of traditional labels/ CD sales, Sensory Creatures aims to bring a new perspective to an already bloody scene. Painting soundscapes and composing soundtracks to our everyday lives, Sensory Creatures aims to invoke the purest of energies to come to light in anyone who listens. We support The Green and Clean Energy Movements. Technology can waste energy when used improperly. By only using equipment developed by company's who support and are progressing towards greener tech, we hope that through our example, others will see that all it takes is baby steps towards a better, healthier life.
Ghost Hospital (www.myspace.com/ghosthospital)
again his wanting
is all i've ever needed
i just read some history
on 1861
they marched to war
not knowing they weren't fighting for
freedom but for riches
for rich men
history seems to repeat itself once again
again
but he's wanted
it's all i've ever needed
long days and long nights
they marched down roads
pushed on by
men who could not save themselves
with their knowledge
or with riches of poor men
i lose myself only to find myself once again
