The steering committee members support the Mission and Vision of the Southern Energy Network and are committed to working towards achieving the organization’s goals. The Steering Committee sets long-term goals, helps plan, and monitors the progress of the organization in achieving its shared mission. The Steering Committee also directs the operations of all staff.
Application Process: Please submit the following application to the current steering committee (steeringapp@climateaction.net) by March 1, 2008. We will review the applications and schedule interviews the first two weeks of March with selected candidates. We will notify new steering members by March 15, 2008. Â

Job Activities:
Members of the SEN Steering Committee:
•   Attend two in-person and monthly teleconference meeting.
•   Create agendas in advance and prepare for meetings.
•   Maintain active involvement in at least one other SEN committee
•   Identify and elect new steering committee members
•   Evaluate steering committee and organizational performance.
•   Are engaged in the process of strategic planning for SEN.
•   Are actively involved in personnel processes for SEN.
•   Are engaged in the process of fundraising for SEN.
•   Participate in SEN’s finances by ensuring the organization is financially secure, approving the budget, and reviewing quarterly and year end financial reports.
•   Review quarterly reports from staff and provide constructive feedback to the SEN coordinator.

Expected Time Commitment: Steering Committee members can expect to spend an average of 8-10 hours on Southern Energy Network related work.
