Let's make history: Help us end mountain top removal in TN!!

Friends,

History was made on leap day, Feb 29th, in The TN Senate Energy & Environment Committee passed the TN Scenic Vistas Protection Act, a bill that would help end mountaintop removal in our state. The bill has moved on to the entire senate is to be voted on and debated by the entire TN senate THIS MONDAY! Though it got gutted with an awful amendment by the opposition, senators  have the chance to return the bill to its original intended language during the Senate hearing. To my knowledge, the issue of mountain top removal has never been debated by a state legislature before and now it is happening in Tennessee! This is an exciting moment for everyone in the environmental movement! We have managed to create a large and inspired network! Together, we can help stop mountain top removal in Tennessee. It's amazing for the long haul!

It is critical this week, to put pressure on our senators to protect our ridge tops. So, if you live in Tennessee:

Call senators, write emails and letters to the, submit a letter to the editor of your local community, and contact community members to let them know what is going on. Encourage all your friends to be a part of making history. You could even walk around & offer your phone to other people in your town to make calls.

See Facebook Phone Banking Event for phone numbers/talking points!

If you do not live in TN:

Please support what is going on here by typing a personal email, making a phone call, or sending a handwritten letter to the office of Governor Haslam. We need to hold him accountable to his campaign promise to stand against mountain top removal. Also, if you wish, please submit an Letter to the Editor about the ramifications of this occurrence for the greater movement to abolish MTR!

Also, sign this petition by CREDO Action to tell Gov. Haslam to stop mountain top removal

Thank you for being amazing.
