Georgia Power wants TWO new reactors at their Plant Vogtle Site!
STOP NUKES IN GEORGIA!
 

Plant Voglte, when first proposed, was estimated to cost $200 million dollars and be complete with four reactors. Intead, two decades later, after the Largest Utility Rate Hikes in Georgia history to pay for the project, the Public got 2 reactors to the tune of 8 Billion dollars!

Now, Georgia Power wants there last two reactors and have applied for the first of two permits. In order to recieve this permit, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), has to write an Environmental Impact Statement before considering the permit.

As concerns about Coal and Global Warming become widespread, many companies are trying to pass off Nuclear power as the answer to climate change.

We, however, know Nukes aren't the answer!.

  • 1/30/08: Georgia Power appealed two contentions against their (and their nuclear company, Southern Nuclear) plans to expand plant Voglte. A Nuclear Resource Commission Judge (who very rarely rule in our favor) dismissed these appeals... Legal work continues with a positive outlook.
